Gerald S. Anderson, 74, 2609 W. Southern Ave., Tempe, Ariz. 85281, formerly of Aastad Township, died Wednesday, May 8, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls. Rev. Jeff Jacobs will officiate, and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls.
One of three sons of Gustave and Clara (Eggum) Anderson, he was born March 31, 1911, in Aastad Township. He was baptized by Rev. Skyberg and confirmed by Rev. S.C. Simansen in Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. He attended rural school and Park Region College.
On Dec. 25,1938, he and Rachel M. Boe were married in Aastad Lutheran Parsonage.
Mr. Anderson managed Red Owl Stores in Luverne and Madison and later farmed in Aastad Township and near Barrett. He also owned and operated a hatchery at Bertha. He later moved to Moorhead and worked at Moorhead State University until retiring in 1976 and moving to Tempe. The couple spent their summers at Ten Mile Lake.
He was a member of King of Glory Church in Tempe and the Elks and Eagles.
Survivors include his wife Rachel; four sons, David of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif., Duane of Bloomington, Gary of College Station, Texas, and Loren of Brooklyn Center; six grandchidlren; and one sister, Mrs. Art (Inga) Anderson of Fergus Falls.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and resume until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
