Fay Kenneth Amsden was born July 25, 1928 on the family farm to Charles and Pearl (Giese) Amsden. He attended Comfrey Public School. Fay served in the United States Army. In March of 1953 he was united in marriage to Ellen Mae Norell of Comfrey. To this union four children were born. Fay farmed in Comfrey, Minnesota before moving to Walker, MN. He returned to Springfield with his wife in 2003. Fay loved traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. His favorite places to fish were Leech Lake and Lake of the Woods in northern Minnesota. Fay enjoyed having coffee with the guys and sharing stories. He was well known for his walks and visiting with friends. Fay was a member of the VFW in Walker and the American Legion in Comfrey. He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife Ellen of 58 years; daughters Ilene Schmidt of New Ulm, Irene (James) Zupfer of New Ulm, and Amy (Christopher) Cain of Mankato; and one son, Alfred Amsden (special friend, Donna Roberts) of Colorado; sisters Donna Block and Sandra Windschitl of Springfield, and Beverly Menton of Mankato. Fay is also survived by his four grandchildren: Kory (Britney) Schmidt of Moose Lake, Eric (special friend, Korrin) Schmidt of Moose Lake, Scott (Jennifer) Zupfer of Mapleton, and Jessica Zupfer of New Ulm; two great-grandchildren: Abagail Zupfer and Khloey Schmidt; and three step great-grandchildren: Jaxsyn Kleszyk, Tanner Fredrickson, and Meghan Meyer; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Fay was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leslie Amsden and sister Irene Hornick.
