Thomas Oscar Butler, 83, Aitkin, died June 12, 2008, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1924, in Crosby to Oscar and Frieda (Knuppel) Butler. He married Imogene Fawkes on Jan. 26, 1947 in Crosby. He was a World War II veteran, serving within the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He retired in 1984, after 38 years of service with Pickard-Mathers and Reserve Mining companies. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iron Hub, and of the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post 557 of Deerwood and the Aitkin VFW.
Funeral services were held June 16 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iron Hub. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the Walter Scott American Legion of Deerwood.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene; sons, James (Judy) Butler, Babbitt; Thomas Butler, Brooklyn Park; Daniel (Paula) Butler, Grand Rapids; and Timothy Butler, Cologne; daughters, Debra (Bruce) Andersen, Hinckley; and Julie Peloquin, Virginia; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion Peterson, St. Paul; and Ethelyn King, Chanhassen. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mark Peloquin; brother, James "Bud" Butler; and sisters, Delcie Gross and Evelyn Larson.
Arrangements were with Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
