Rudolph Eugene Hendrickson, age 87, of Ashland, WI died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, WI. He was born February 4, 1924 in Moose Lake, MN. Rudolph was raised by his grandparents, Oskar & Johanna Hendrickson of Kettle River, MN and he attended Barnum High School in Minnesota.
In the early 1940's he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Tofte, MN. Rudolph was drafted into the US Army during WW II, was in the 1294 Military Police Company of the Army Air Force and was part of the European- African-Middle Eastern Theater.
After the war, he returned home and worked at the Kettle River Creamery and served as policeman for Kettle River. On January 27, 1951 he married Faye Marie Wilson in Kettle River, MN. He worked for Moose Lake Creamery until 1960 and after some schooling started working for R&R Body Shop in Moose Lake, MN doing wheel alignment. From 1983 – 1986 he was a resident of Fort Lupton, CO and from 1986 until his retirement in 1996 he worked for the Town of Kettle River Public Works Department. He has been a resident of Ashland, WI the past several years. Rudolph was a life-member of the Kettle River American Legion Post and former member of the Moose Lodge in Moose Lake, MN. He enjoyed playing baseball and hockey and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Hendrickson of Ashland, WI; four sons, Mark (Marty) Hendrickson of Rice Lake, WI, David Hendrickson of Ashland, WI, Kim (Cindy) Hendrickson of Denver, CO & Guy Hendrickson of Ashland, WI; 14 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; other relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hendrickson in 2010.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Frost Home For Funerals in Ashland, WI. Pastor William Wrieden will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service and inurnment will take place in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Kettle River, MN at a later date. Oscar was born 1869 in Finland, Johanna 1867 in Finland and came to US in 1891 and farmed. His children were born in MN. Aina J, Martha G, Hilma K, saima E, Mamie M, John H & George G (twins), Helmi M.
