Dorothy M. "Dora" Kasames age 87 of Duluth, formerly of Grand Portage, MN, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2006. She was born on November 26, 1918 in Grand Marais, MN to Francis and Margaret (Caribou) Drouillard.
Dora was well known for her beadwork and also was an avid baseball and wrestling fan. She was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp. She was a member of the Duluth American Legion and the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Dora especially loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Nick, granddaughter Louella Blackdeer, her parents, 3 brothers, 6 sisters and special friend Bert Dargan.
Dora is survived by her daughter Lani (Bennett) Blackdeer of Neillsville, WI, granddaughters Nicole Robertson of Williamsburg, VA, Sheena (Kevin) Shoen of Prescott, WI and Nellie (Ryen Knuth) Blackdeer of Neillsville, WI, grandson James Blackdeer, also of Neillsville, WI, great grandchildren Sam, Sydney, Makayla, Anthony, Charlie, Colleen, Raina, Julius and Elijah, sister Verna Luella (Matthew) Porter of Duluth, nieces, nephews and Dora's dear friend Sr. Marie Rose Messingschlager.
Visitation will be on Monday January 23, 2006 from 6 pm - 8 pm with a vigil prayer service at 8 pm in the Handevidt Funeral Home 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet. The visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Catholic Church 280 Reservation Road, Cloquet. Interment will be on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in Old Holy Family Cemetery, Cloquet.
