SERVICES FOR MRS. JAKE ACHTERHOFF HELD WEDNESDAY
Mrs. Jake Achterhoff, 91, Edgerton, died Sunday, November 28, at the Edgebrook Rest Center, Edgerton. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. December 1 at the Edgerton First Reformed Church with the Rev. William Kroon officiating, Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton, under the direction of the Edgerton Funeral Home.
She is survived by 4 sons; Henry, Luverne, Arthur, Chandler, Clarence, St. James and Marvin, Edgerton; 4 daughters, Mrs. Angie Veldkamp, Luverne, Mrs. Peter Van Nieuwenhuyzen (Johanna_ Pipestone, Mrs. Joe Elzenga (Gertrude), Holland, Mr. Lucy Scholtenm Edgerton; a sister, Mrs. Rudloph Eernisse (Hattie), Leota, a brother Alfred Menning, Edgerton; 34 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren and 3 gret-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jake Achterhoff, 91, Edgerton, died November 28 at the Edgebrook Rest Center in Edgerton. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on December 1 at the Edgerton First Reformed Church with the Rev. William Kroon officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at edgerton under the direction of the Edgerton Funeral Home.
The former Grace Menning was born in Sioux County, Iowa on September 29, 1880. As a child she moved with her parents to South Dakota. She later lived in Northern Minnesota, before moving to Edgerton. She married Jake Achterhoff at Leota, Minnesota on March 28, 1900. They farmed in the Edgerton area until they retired and moved to town. He died in 9149. Since then she lived alone until two years ago when she moved to the Edgebrook Rest Center. She was a memeber of the Edgerton Firat Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of a Mother-Daughter Club for more than 30 years.
She is survived by four sons; Henry, of Luverne, Arthur, Chandler, Clarence,St. James andMarvin, Edgerton; four daughtes; Mrs. Angie Veldkamp, Luverne, Mrs. Peter Van Nieuwenhuyzen (Johanna), Pipestone, Mrs. Joe Elzenga (Gertrude), Holland and Mrs. Lucy Scholten, Edgerton; one sister Mrs. Rudolph Eernisse (Hattie), Leota and one brother, Alfred Menning, Edgerton; 34 grandchildren and 100 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. John Schoolmeester (Henrietta), her parents Mr. and Mrs. John S. Menning, two sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Giebink (Ella) and Miss Susan Menning; and five brothers, Simon, Arthur, John, Cornelius and William.
