ELDERLY RESIDENT CALLED BY DEATH FRIDAY MORNING
Jacob Achterhoff, well known Pipestone County reident, was taken by death early Friday morning, April 29. Death was due to a heart attack, after several years of ill health.
He was born in the Netherlands, on December 10, 1878. His father died when he was an infant. When he was two years of age he came to American with his mother. He lost his mother at the age of 9. After a time he came to Sioux County, Iowa, where he made his home with his brother. Since a tender age, e made his own living. at the age of 21 he married Grace Menniin at Leota, Minnesota. He has spent the rest of his life in the Edgerton and Leota communities.
Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church, of which he had been a member for many yeas, with Rev. Wolrink conducting the services. Mrs. Wilmar Wassink and Mrs. Chris Nettinga sang 'Going Down the Valley' and 'Lord and Father of Mankind'. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Christians, George Gulker, Herman Hendricks, John Berghorst, Ben Zwart and Nys Den Ouden.
He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, nine children; Henry, Henrietta (Mrs. John Schoolmeester), Angie (Mrs. Veldkamp), Johanna (Mrs. P. Van Nieuwenhuizen), Gertrude (Mrs. Joe Elzenga, Jr.) of Wilkison, Washington, Arthur, Lucy (mrs. William Scholten), Clarence, Marvin, besides 32 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. All of his brothers and sisters have preceded him in death.

R. Menning, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Menning, Mrs. Allie Yonkers, Mr. and Mrs. H. Langstrat, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ver Hoeven, Mrs. All DeRaad, Mr. and Mrs. Leo DeRaad, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harmelink, Mr. and Mrs. John May, Mr. and Mrs. J. DeJong, Rev. S. J.
