Nancy J. Finberg, 79, of Carlton, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth. She was born May 13, 1927 in Carlton, the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (DePuy) Finberg.
Nancy was a 1945 graduate of Carlton High School. She worked for more than 50 years as a dental assistant for the Haubner Dental Clinic. Nancy was a very active member of the Carlton VFW Auxiliary and of J.M. Paine Presbyterian Church in Carlton. She served as the church financial secretary for many years and also was a long serving secretary of the Women's Association. Nancy was an avid doll collector, enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, reading, television, collecting sea shells and most importantly, she loved spending time with her beloved pets and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Caza and Marie Finberg and a brother-in-law, Harley Smith.
Nancy is survived by two sisters, Betty Smith of Carlton and Charline (Don) Franzen of Cloquet; a brother, Jack (Donna) Finberg of Wrenshall; a brother-in-law, Gordon Caza of Cloquet; her beloved dog, Maggie; her very good neighbors, Stanley and Dale Olson of Carlton and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION:5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 12 Noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, June 24, 2006 in J.M. Paine Presbyterian Church, Carlton. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Carlton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Friends of Animals or J.M. Paine Presbyterian Church.
