Johanna Bose was born on January 7, 1918 on a farm near Chandler, Minnesota, to John and Adrianna Kroeskop Van Eck. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On January 5, 1938 she and Henry Bose were married at her parents home. Following their marriage they farmed in Cameron Township, Murray County, Minnesota and raised their six children.
In 1956 they moved to Lake Wilson and Jo worked at Gerts Cafe cooking. Henry passed away in November 1968. Jo remained at the Cafe until 1969 she then did house cleaning and wall papering throughout the area.
In 1991 Jo became a resident of the Golden Living Center-Slayton and passed away there on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the age of 93. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson.
Survivors include her five children and their spouses, Marian and Harold Haupert of Lake Wilson, Carolyn Maddox of San Antonio, TX, Don and Bernice Bose of Lake Wilson, Jim and Terri Bose of Slayton, and Jane and Ken Chambless of Daphne, AL, one daughter-in-law, Darlene Bose of Lake Wilson, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry, one son, Roger Bose, four brothers, John, Boss, Tony and Hank Van Eck, and two sisters, Maggie Van't Hof, and Artie Lolkus.
Funeral Services: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson, on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bruce Berg officiating.
Interment is at Hillside Cemetery Lake Wilson.
