James "Frank" Alexander Resident of Corralitos Frank was born 7-17-1919 to Allyne & Clyde Alexander in Brownfield, TX, and he passed away quietly at home on 10-26-2012 at the age of 93. He leaves behind his brother William (Bill) Alexander, daughters Sharon Battle (Ron) and Debbie Mathis (Ron), son Kevin Alexander (Valerie), 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 34 years Emma Rose, brother, John "Buster" Alexander and nephew Robert "Bob" Alexander. Frank enlisted in the Navy on March 10, 1937 at the age 17 and spent 20 years in active duty, stationed in many ports of call, later retiring after 10 years in the Fleet Reserve in 1966 as an Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class. He served during WW II on the USS Ranger, Lexington, Wasp, Yorktown, and Cape Esperance and the Korean War on USS Boxer and Princeton. He was a proud soldier receiving the China Service Medal, American Defense and Campaign medals, WW II Victory, Good Conduct, Navy Occupation Service, Korean Service and United Nations medal, Commendation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Presidential Unit Citation. After retiring from active duty he worked for the US Post Office for another 16 years. He loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family, especially in his retirement years. He retired to his home in Corralitos in 1973 and became a well known daily sight walking his dog along Corralitos Road. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
