He enlisted 5/29/1918 in the Medical Corps. He was sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. From there to Camp Lee, Virginia where he contracted influenza and pneumonia. Passing away 10/1/1918. Funeral at M.E. church with full military honors. Buried beside his father.
He was the first Park Rapids boy to die in the service of the US WWI.
