Velma Marie Barchenger passed away August 29, at St. Michael's Hospital at the age of 57 years, 1 month and 18 days. Cause of death was cancer. Velma Marie Quade was the daughter of the late Gustave and Ernestine Quade, born in Winter, Saskatchewan, Canada on July 11, 1914. She attended rural school, Sauk Centre High School and Normal Training at Sauk Centre, Minn. She taught rural school sourthwest of Sauk Centre for six years. On June 5, 1941 she was united in marriage to Raymond Barchenger at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Schumacher. To this union one child was born, Richard Barchenger. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove Lake. She was a member of Trinity Ladies Aid, Birthday Club and Homemakers Club. She had been a faithful leader in the Raymond Ashley 4-H Club. Her hobbies were art, sewing and gardening. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church of Sauk Centre by Rev. Edward Gruenwald of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grove lake. Organist was Mrs. Joan Thompson. Soloist was Mrs. Kenneth Peterson. Place of interment was Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers; David Barchenger, James Barchenger, Dave Poock, Lyle Quade and Gary Quade, all nephews of the deceased. She is survived by her husband, son Richard and three brothers, Ervin Quade of Hallock, MN., Virgil and Eugene Quade of Sauk
Centre, also nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Crandon, Wisc., Grand Forks, N. D., Mpls, Waseca, St. Cloud, Benson, Hallock, Sauk Rapids, Long Prairie, Hoffman, Osakis, Glenwood, Villard, Brooten, Grey Eagle, Squaw Lake and Spring Lake Park.
