Marge Austin, of Sauk Centre passed away early Thursday, April 8, 2004, at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, MN. Memorial services for Marge will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Samiritan in Sauk Centre. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre and a reception will follow at the church fellowship hall. Marjorie Ann Nobles was born on Oct. 7, 1927, in Minneapolis, MN to Virgil and Mabel (Peterson) Nobles. She was a graduate of North High School and attended the University Of MN. On Nov. 24, 1951 Marge was united in marriage to Gunther Austin in Minneapolis. When they made their home in Sauk Centre, Marge worked as a dental assitant for Dr. Earl Krebs. She also worked at the First National Insurance Agency in Sauk Centre and at Steiner Lumber. After her two sons were grown, Marge owned a needlepoint shop called the Needlepoint Cellar. Marge loved to do various types of needlework projects and was also accomplished at knitting and hardanger. Marge was a devote member of the Episcopal fith and was a very active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in Sauk Centre. On the diocesan level, Marge served on the board for the Cass Lake Episcopal Camp and worked with the camp as Senior High Dean for 18 years. She was on the Episcopal Community Services Board of the Archdeacon Gilfillan Center in Bemidji for 10 yrs. Marge served on the standing committee for the diocese. She was a past officer and member of the Episcopal Church Women for the local, the diocesan and the Province. She was a reader, a licensed sermon-writer, a trained deacon and a licensed chalice bearer. At the national level, she served on the Board of Directors for the National United Thanks Offering and the National Camping & Confgerence Board. She was very active in the Episcopal Cursillo Movement and served on many retreat weekends in various capacities. In additon to her many church duties, Marge was a past officer and member of the Eastern Star. Always one to keep active, Marge enjoyed playing golf, bridge and guitar and in the evenings she relaxed by reading a good book. Marge was a loving and devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gunther Austin of Sauk Centre; two sons, Mark Austin of Loretto, MN, and Tim Austin of New Hope, MN Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Wilbur Nobles. Arrangements are being handled by the Roy-Hetland Funerl Home in Osakis, MN
