Inga Brateng was the daughter of Hans C Brateng and Mathea Cristine Peterson.
Inga married Andrias "Andrew" Barsness on February 4, 1921 in Cass Lake, Minnesota. They had five childfen: Arline Lillian; Irvin; Earl Howard; Marjorie Jean; and Ronald Dennis Barsness.

Obit was found in "The Pioneer" July 9, 1995 on page #2. and reads as follows:
"Inga Barsness, 92, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, at North Country Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cass Lake, with the Rev. Richard Denny officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home Chapel in Cass Lake.
Mrs. Barsness was born July 6, 1902, in Helgeland, Norway, to Hans and Marie Brateng. Her father came to Thief River Falls as a lumberjack to earn money to send for his family, and she was 2 years old when the family came by ship to America through Ellis Island. She grew up speaking both English and Norwegian and went to school until the sixth-grade. When she was 15 she began work as a cook in a hotel in Grafton, N.D. She also worked as a cook for a threshing crew, where she met her husband, Andrew Barsness. she was 18 and he was 21. They were married Feb. 4, 1921, and together had five children. They mostly farmed in the Cass Lake area, and her husband also worked for the railroad. The family farm was sold, and she lived at Four Seasons Apartment in Cass Lake before moving to Woodrest Heath Care Center July 11, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Arline Brandt of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Marjorie Frasieur of Springfield, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her youngest sister, Ida Ordahl of Thief River Falls; and a younger brother, Leonard Brateng of Eagle Bend.
She was preceded in death by her three sons and by three sisters and six brothers."
