Hans Paulson 1849-1927
Hans C. Paulson, farmer, of Popple township, residing 5 1/2 miles west of Bagley passed away at his home on December 6th at 2 o'clock. He had been in poor health for the past few years but had not been confined to his bed more than two days preceding his demise.
Hans Christian Paulson was born in Bjerke, Nannestad, Norway on February 16th, 1849. Here he grew to manhood when he went to Jacobsen's Engine Works, Christiana (Oslo) to take up training as a mechanic, later being engaged as first machinist at Hoibraaten's lumber mill at Eidsvold.
He was married at Eidsvold to Marie Jensen on December 27th, 1876 and to this union nine children were born. They took up their residence in Eidsvold where they resided until in the spring of 1903 when the family emigrated to America.
After coming to this country, he resided for two years in town of Columbia, Polk County, moving to town of Popple, Clearwater County, in 1905, and in 1907 moving onto his present farm home in the same township.
Mr. Paulson is survived by his wife, six sons, Paul, Kristian, Ole and Jens at home. Hans at Inkster, North Dakota and Otto at Winger and three daughters, Mrs. John Arnold of Chicago, Mrs. C. J. Johnson of town of Popple and Mrs. Geo. H. Sorvig of Bagley also two brothers and two sisters, Andrew Wicks of St. Paul, Paul Paulsen of Lillestrom, Norway, Mrs. Marie Nelson of St. Paul and Mrs. Minnie Dahl of Chicago.
Funeral services we conducted from the home and Gran Church on Saturday afternoon and interment made at Gran Cemetery.
Rev. Nesseth officiated at the services.
