Johnie Arnold, a resident of Lindsay, Ca. also known as "Uncle Joe" peacefully passed away on May 10, 2014 and has gone home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he was 89. Uncle Joe was born to Charles Kenworth and Jett Arnold on December 31, 1924 in Hope Arkansas.
His family migrated to California when Joe was 13 years old. He was employed as a farm hand in Lindsay California where he planted and harvested cotton, olives and drove a team of horses. When he was 20 years old he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in World War II as part of the Marine Mag Unit 13.
After returning from the War he did odd jobs before becoming employed by the Bureau of Reclamation which later became the Friant-Kern Canal. Joe was employed as a water tender for 50 years retiring at age 75. He was so proud that he never missed a day, some of his fellow employees said you could set the time by "Joe time".
Uncle Joe was a very special man to all that knew him. He loved to garden and was famous for his homegrown tomatoes that he shared with everyone. He was such a giver and would always pull a gift from his truck when he visited his loved ones. Those gifts usually were from a yard sale, another one of his hobbies. Uncle Joe was loved by so many and even though he rarely said it, he had many special friends he loved very much.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

We are so very grateful for the wonderful care our Uncle Joe received over the past year. We wanted to personally acknowledge Dee Siegel , John Ledesma and their staff for the love and outstanding care our Uncle Joe got in his last stages of life. Words cannot express our gratitude.
Graveside services will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Lindsay Cemetery.
