Myrtle Dorothy Armbrust was born January 2, 1922 to Carl and Anna (Harms) Anders on the family farm in Rutland Township, rural Northrop, Minnesota. She was baptized January 22, 1922 and later reaffirmed her faith at her confirmation April 5, 1936. She attended school in Northrop, Minnesota, and was employed by various families in the area doing cooking and housework. On February 29, 1948, Myrtle was united in marriage to Wallace Armbrust at the parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed near Truman, Ormsby, and Northrop until moving to their present farm in Jay Township, rural Alpha. Wallace died on February 23, 1998. She continued living on the farm until becoming a resident of Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in January, 2010. Myrtle was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. Through the years she greatly enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, cooking, quilting and making rugs. She was a member of the Jay Township Birthday Club.
Myrtle died on Monday afternoon, November 1, 2010 at the Lakeview Metodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota.
Myrtle was greatly loved and will be missed by her children, daughter, Jan Volkenant and husband, Steve, of Blue Earth, MN; sons, Ron Armbrust and wife, Peggie, of Milton-Freewater, OR and Gary Armbrust of rural Alpha, MN; five grandchildren, Jaysie Witkop and husband, Randy of Harrisburg, SD; Mikkaela Van Beek and husband, Bill, of Tea, SD; Heather Cottrell and husband, Dave, of Tempe, AZ, Angelle Graham and her husband, Zebulon, of Chandler, AZ, Derek Armbrust and special friend, Terri Masterjohn, of San Diego, CA.; and five great-grandchildren. Sister, Evelyn Burmeister of Fairmont, MN; Brothers, Marlan Anders and special friend, Marge, Gerald Anders and his wife June, all of Fairmont, MN; sisters-in-law, Mary Armbrust and Fern Bulfer, both of Fairmont, MN; brothers-in-law Albert Armbrust and his wife, Muriel, of Truman, MN, Harvey Armbrust of Trimont, MN, Robert Armbrust and his wife, Hazel of Fairmont, MN, and William Armbrust and his wife, Audrey of Florida, along with several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
