Harold Ingnor Miller, 90, of Northome, formerly of Big Falls, Minnesota died on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Northome Health Care Center in Northome, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the River of God Church in Big Falls, MN with Pastor Tim Treat officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Big Falls, Minnesota. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck is assisting the family with arrangements.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Harold was born on August 14, 1922 in Sturgeon River Township (Big Falls), MN, the son of Chris and Julia (Skhal) Miller. He was raised and attended school in Big Falls. Harold entered the US Army on December 9, 1942 and served with the 3211 Engineers FF Co during WWII. He served as a rifleman and arial gunner in air combat in the Balkans. He served on air offensives over Europe, the Northern Apennines, Germany, and the Po Valley. He flew 35 sorties over Europe. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, an Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, One Silver Campaign Star, an Aviation Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. on September 24, 1945. Harold married Rose Laverne Nordstrand on June 22, 1949 and they moved to Big Falls in 1965. He worked construction and logged most of his life until he retired because of health reasons. Rose and Harold celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2009.
Preceded in death by his wife, Rose on January of 2010, and his parents Chris and Julia Miller;. Survived by his; Sons Ronald (Deb) Miller of Andover MN, Michael (Susie) Miller of East Bethel MN, Daughters Terri (Jim) Graham of Nodine MN, and Lori (Dave) Faber of Pine City MN; Grandchildren Penny, Tammy, and Melissa Miller of Andover MN, Amanda (Jose) Pelaez and Cory (Mindy) Graham of Winona MN, Holly and Ashley Faber of Pine City MN, Chantil Graham of Intl Falls MN; Great grandchildren Alex and Veronica Miller, Erika Miller, Adrian Robbinson, Riley and Adelyn Graham, Sebastian Pelaez, and Bella Deose; Brother Earl Miller of Intl Falls MN, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
