Mark Peter Gravley was born on April 11, 1910, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Peter and Martha (Nelson) Gravley. He was baptized at an early age and later confirmed at the Windom Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mark received his education in the Windom schools; where he was a star athlete, graduating in the Class of 1930.
In 1932, Mark was united in marriage to Palma Purrington. In 1932, they moved to Crane Lake and were guides for hunters and fisherman at one of the resorts. They moved back to Windom in 1938 and Mark worked for the City until 1948.
From 1944-1946, Mark served his country honorably during World War II in the European Theatre as a squad leader in the rifle company of the infantry.
Mark's marriage to Palma was dissolved and Mark was united in marriage to Viola Lock Miller in Jackson, Minnesota. They moved to Rochester in 1948 and Mark began to work for the City of Rochester in the Engineering Department as a time keeper and stock keeper until retiring in 1975. Mark and Viola moved to Lakefield in 1983 and to Jackson in 1995. Viola passed away in October of 1996 in Jackson, Minnesota. Shortly after her death Mark moved to Windom before moving back to Lakefield.
Mark's health had been declining and on April 17, 2007, he became a resident of the Sogge Good Samaritan Community in Windom where he remained until passing away on May 5, 2007, at the wonderful age of 97!!!
Mark was member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola in 1996; one son, Richard Glenn in 1937; two brothers and four sisters.
