Harry Hendricks, 77, Clover Township, died Friday, August 4th at the Surf and Sands Nursing Home in Duluth.
Harry was born on June 30, 1901 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to Granville and Elizabeth Hendricks. In 1916 the family moved to Pine County and settled on a farm 15 miles east of Sandstone. He graduated from Northwestern Bible College in 1929 and in 1931 bought land in Clover Township, where he farmed until 1974 when ill health forced him to retire. On April 20 of this year, he entered the Surf and Sand Nursing Home in Duluth.
Harry was very active in Christian work in the surrounding communities and was the leader in bringing 32 displaced families to eastern Pine County in 1949.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Tessie, Velta, Birdie and one brother, Ralph. Surviving are two brothers, Dr. Paul Hendricks of Brainerd and Guy Hendricks of Sandstone.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 7 at the Clover Community Church with Dr. Paul Hendricks, Pastor Lee Smith and Pastor David Gabriel officiating.
Pianist for the service was Mrs. Iner Carlson and music in song by two nieces, Betty Berglund and Mary Berger. Burial followed at Danforth Cemetery. Casket bearers were Paul Holmes, Carl Nelson, Howard Swanson, Norman Nelson, Inver Carlson and George Rydberg. Honorary casket bearers were Oscar Nelson, Philip Johnson, Clyde Holmes and Edward Nelson.
