Cain, OSC, Fr. Joseph. Age 92.
Entered eternal life on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Born January 2, 1918, in Ingomar, Montana, to Thomas and Frances (Sexton) Cain. The family moved to Loretto, Minnesota, a few years later. Fr. Joseph attended Crosier Seminary in Onamia, Minnesota, from 1932-1938. He joined the Crosier Order and made first profession on August 28, 1939. He was ordained a priest on June 3, 1944. He attended graduate school at the University of Notre Dame and Universidad Nacional de Mexico, earning a Masters in Spanish Literature. Fr. Cain served on the faculty of Crosier Seminary in Onamia and Our Lady of the Lake Seminary in Syracuse, Indiana. He also served in parish ministry in Nebraska, Maryland, and Texas before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, where he served the Hispanic community at The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In retirement, he served the parish of San Martine and the Sisters of Charity in Phoenix before moving into an assisted living facility in Onamia in 2006. Fr. Cain is survived by seven brothers and sisters and his Crosier confreres. The Funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6th at the Crosier Priory, Onamia. Public viewing will begin at 5:30 PM with Mass at 7:00 PM. Private burial in the Crosier cemetery will follow on Friday morning. Memorials are preferred to the Crosier Community of Onamia.
