Edith O. (Hoyme) Askegaard, 83 of Moorhead died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Edith, daughter of Albin and Christine (Eliason) Anderson, was born December 7, 1918 on her family farm near Comstock, MN. She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Comstock area. She married Olaf Hoyme on June 17, 1939 in Clara Lutheran Church in Comstock. The couple made their home and farmed in the Comstock area. They moved into Comstock in 1967 and continued to farm. Mr. Hoyme died on December 24, 1975. Edith worked as a nurse's aid for St. John's Hospital, Fargo starting in the 1950's. She continued there until the early 1970's when she began working for Dakota Hospital also as a nurse's aid and ward clerk. She retired in the late 1970's.
She married Archie Askegaard on October 25, 1980 in Comstock Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Comstock. Mr. Askegaard died on February 5, 1990. She continued to live in Comstock until January of 1998 when she moved to the Fairmont in Moorhead. In February of 1999 she became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead where she lived until the time of her death.
Edith was baptized confirmed and held her membership in Clara Lutheran Church which later became Comstock Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Comstock WELCA and in her later years was a member of the Lydia Circle. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, she also traveled to Norway and Sweden, a trip she totally enjoyed. She was a former member of the Fargo Eagles Club and auxiliary. Edith loved to fish. She enjoyed baking, loved the Outdoors and enjoyed working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; two sons, Harlan and Collin; one sister Adeline and one brother John, who died in infancy.
