He loved to collect scale-model cars, pens, and caps. Following retirement, he enjoyed working on small engines and lawn mowers. He also mowed lawns in the neighborhood. He enjoyed deer hunting with his family before becoming ill. He was a member of the Wendell American Legion Post 426.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian (Clark) Hilde of Elbow Lake; six children: Ronald of Mora, Mark (Linda) of Big Lake, Susan of Hoffman, Kathy (Curt) Jacobson of Morris, Pamela (Myron) Haben of Holloway, and Gregory of Elbow Lake; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clifford of Elbow Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cecil; and one grandchild.

Visitation: Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church one hour before Tuesday services

Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake
