The funeral for Hazel Asher will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Rogers officiating. Spring burial will be in Chatfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Asher, 76, of Chatfield, a retired Mayo Clinic employee and former home health aide, died Saturday morning (Dec. 3, 1994) at her home after a lengthy illness.
Hazel Meeker was born June 27, 1918, in Chatfield, graduated from Chatfield High School in 1936 and attended Chatfield Normal Training. She lived in Chatfield all her life. She was married and later divorced. Mrs. Asher worked in the personnel services and benefits department at the clinic until her retirement and then worked for Home Health Aid in Fillmore County. She was a member and past matron of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Lynn, both of Chatfield; a daughter, Eleanor (Mrs. Kenneth) Irish of Chatfield; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle and Lloyd Meeker, both of Chatfield; and a sister, Helen (Mrs. Harold) Baker of Chatfield.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield and an hour before the service at the church. There will be an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
