At Akeley, August 31st, Mrs. Lillie J. Hasbrouck, wife of Chauncey Hasbrouck passed to her eternal rest leaving to mourn her loss, besides her husband and five children, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. Hanson, three brothers and two sisters and a large circle of sorrowing friends, who had learned to love her many good qualities. A loving wife and mother, a kind and sympathic friend and neighbor, always ready to help in time of trouble and sorrow, has passed away and the entire community mourns with the stricken family their great loss.It can truly be said of her "none knew her but to love her, none named her but to praise." Although her death was not generally known here until Monday morning a large and sorrowing congregation followed the casket from the home of Joseph Pennar (where it had rested, waiting for the family) to the church where Rev. Collinge of Alexandria conducted the funeral services with words of comfort and hope which fell like balm upon the wounded hearts of the grieving family, who had come a long and weary journey to lay the loved one in the home burial grounds. After the services at the church were concluded the casket, which kind and loving hands had covered with flowers, was carried to the cemetery by the pallbearers, Messrs. H. Miller, J. Kohihaus, K. McGillis and S. Bundy, where it was lowered to it's last resting place with filling and appropriate ceremony.
