Ethel A. Aftanase, 61, of Blackduck and formerly of Bemidji died Saturday, May 27, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Center in Blackduck. Graveside services were at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Bemidji.
Mrs. Aftanase was born Nov. 29, 1927 in Minneapolis to Earl and Anna Kirchgatter. She grew up in Minneapolis, moved to the Bemidji area in 1970 and had lived at the nursing home since 1978. She is survived by her parents of Tucson, AZ, and by two sisters, Henrietta Collins of Hinckley and Lorraine Triemert of Marana, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Aftanase, and by a sister. (Bemidji Pioneer May 31, 1989)
