Dick H. Hollenbeck, 84, of Aurora died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Dec, 2, 1927, in Morris, Minn. to James and Hilda Hollenbeck. Following his high school graduation, he farmed with his father. On Jan. 29, 1949, he married Viola Eidal in Wendell, Minn. They farmed near Farwell, Minn.
In 1957, they moved to Aurora and later lived in Embarrass for 40 years. In the early 1990s they returned to Aurora. Dick worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from there as a crane operator with more than 30 years of service. Dick also worked for Wachlin and Oberfoell Auction Companies for many years.
Dick was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, SOAR and the Red Riders Saddle Club. He also served as supervisor for the Waasa Township Board for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Vi; children, Teresa (Dave) Faust of Nisswa, Diane (Bob) Gihl of Shoreview, Peggy Koivisto of Pequot Lakes and Rob (Suzy Watson) Hollenbeck of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robert, Scott, Tom, Sue, Ted, Tarik and Tracy; several great-grandchildren; sister, Inez (Charles) Wathen of Winnetka, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Colleen McIntosh.
Visitation Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. A luncheon will follow at the Aurora American Legion at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Burial will take place in the spring in the Waasa Cemetery.
