Olive Theresa (Dyrdahl) Anthony, age 99, of Waseca, died August 25, 2022, at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home, in Waseca, MN.

Born March 12, 1923, at the farm home of her parents, Martin and Olianna Dyrdahl, in rural Kenyon, Minnesota. This is the home Olive grew up in and was homesteaded by her grandfather, Nels Dyrdahl, when he came to America, from Norway. All of Olives grandparents were immigrants from Norway.

Olive was baptized and confirmed in the Hauge Lutheran Church, in rural Kenyon.

Olive attended country school for her first 8 grades, in School District 51 in Rice County. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1941. After her High School graduation, she moved with her sister, Norma, to Waseca, to work at the E.F. Johnson Company. It was there she met her husband, James M. Anthony. They were married in 1943. They lived in Texas for a while, when Jim was stationed there during World War II. After Jim finished his time in the Army Air Force, they returned to Waseca to live. They raised two sons: James G. Anthony and Michael L. Anthony.

At age 55, Olive went to Cosmetology school and earned her degree. She then became a co-owner of the Magic Mirror Beauty Salon, in Waseca. Olive loved her business and her customers (her Ladies, as she called them).

Olive was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was able to travel to Norway once to visit. She made delicious Norwegian treats – lefse, krumkake, and Rosettes were her favorites. We all gained weight at Christmas time! She was also an excellent seamstress and made many of her own clothes.

She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was active in many activities, over the years.

Olive is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law; her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Martin and Olianna Dyrdahl; husband, James M. Anthony; siblings: Mildred Lair, Norma Jacobson and Robert Dyrdahl.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, on Friday, September 9th, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, in Waseca. Interment will be at the Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service, at the church, on Friday.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
