Eagle River resident Vernon Clifford Anderson, 85, died of congestive heart failure Jan. 12, 1997, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A graveside service was held at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. A memorial service was at the First Baptist Church of Birchwood. The Rev. Robert Chadwick officiated.
Mr. Anderson was born May 17, 1911, in Chicago, and was a resident of Eagle River since 1989. He attended three years of college at Northwest University in Chicago and was a member of First Baptist Church of Birchwood. He enjoyed fishing. According to the family, ''Vernon has fully devoted his life to the glory of God and to the furthering of the knowledge of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.''
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of Eagle River; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Pamela Anderson of Girdwood; grandson, Erik Anderson of Girdwood; and sister, Lorraine Hutchins of Arvada, Co. In lieu of flowers, gifts will be accepted at First Baptist Church of Birchwood for Missionary Outreach. Arrangements were handled by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary & Crematory.
