Luke Joseph Barthelemy, 29, of North Pole, Alaska was granted his angel wings on September 11, 2012. His soul began a rough journey as a young man and he tragically lost his battle with the disease of bipolar disorder.
Luke was born on October 11, 1982, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Joseph Barthelemy and Helena (Schuman) Schreder. He was the second oldest of six siblings. He lived in Sauk Rapids and Foley, Minnesota, then lived the next 24 years of his life in North Pole, Alaska.
Luke was known by many and loved by all. His goal in life was to drive a semi-truck. He drove truck for Airland Transport Fairbanks and worked with a wonderful trucking family.
His close friends and teachers from his school years will remember his happy, full of life and love spirit. His sparkling eyes and bright smile made those around him laugh and enjoy the moment. He was an impressive athlete having played basketball and football his elementary through high school career receiving numerous coaches and sportsmanship awards.
Luke had a way of drawing both young and old alike. Children always gravitated towards him because of his fun loving nature; whenever Luke helped out on a job, he was always a recipient of compliments for not only his workmanship, but pleasant and courteous nature.
Luke always spoke fondly of grandma Shirley's cooking during his visits to Minnesota each summer. During their time here the boys and their cousins made great memories together. His relatives would often get together for good food and fun. The cousins enjoyed swimming at the high school, going to Valley Fair and Summer Land as well as playing basketball at grandma's house. It didn't matter what activities we did together it was always a special time to see all three boys. We will always remember Luke for his sweet heart and great smile. He will greatly be missed by all of his family and friends.
