Robert B. Allison Sr.
GREENCASTLE -- Robert B. Allison Sr., 77, a resident since July 7 of Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, and formerly of 7027 Kuhn Road, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, in the nursing home. He had been critically ill for the past week.

Born June 15, 1926, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Robert A. and Victoria Britton Allison.

He lived his early life in Baltimore, Md., where he graduated in 1944 from Hamilton High School.

In his early years, he was a crane operator for ARMCO Steel, Baltimore. From 1971 until retiring in 1988, he worked in the maintenance department at Greencastle-Antrim School District.

After serving in the Merchant Marines, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater.

He enjoyed working with tools, woodworking, reading, doing construction work and gardening.

He and his wife, Verdonna G. "Dee" Husk Allison, were married July 2, 1949, in Baltimore. They moved to the Kuhn Road address in 1971.

Besides his wife, surviving are three sons, David L. of Baltimore, Michael W. of Phoenix, Md., and Britton Jr. of Greencastle; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Elizabeth Kamsler of Kissimmee, Fla., and Marvell Gill of Essex, Conn.; a brother, Philip of Wolcott, Conn.; nieces; and nephews.

A sister, Virginia Hunt, preceded him in death.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evans Funeral Chapel, 2325 York Road, Timonium, Md., with the Rev. Jeffrey A. Ehko and Guy Gaston officiating. Burial will follow in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., and one hour before the service Wednesday in Evans Funeral Home, Timonium.
