Girl Takes Life After Long Illness
Miss Annie Ellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ellis, who live six miles west of Willows, shot herself Sunday with a rifle, almost blowing off the top of her head. Despondency on account of being ill with a disease which caused the death of her sister, is believed to have been the motive for suicide.
Mrs. Ellis went to the room of her daughter who said she was not feeling well and would remain in bed. Before Mrs. Ellis had reached the living room she heard the report of a rifle and returning found the body of her daughter.
Besides her parents, Miss Annie Ellis leaves three brothers, James Ellis, Thomas Ellis and Ted Ellis, and a sister, Mrs. John Roden. The family is well known in Glenn county. George Ellis is one of the best known grain and rice men of the county. – Transcribed by M.
