The Gonzales Tribune, Thursday, August 13, 1925:

"Chris Asmussen, Gonzales Pioneer, Is Laid to Rest

The funeral of the late Christen Hansen Asmussen, retired Gonzales farmer, was held here Saturday morning under the auspices of Gabilan Lodge, No. 372, I. O. O. F., of which he was a member for many years.

Many friends attended and the floral tokens were abundant.

Religious services were held at the family home on Third street by Rev. M. S. MacKerricher, pastor of the Community Baptist church, assisted by a choir composed of Mrs. O. W. Sommer, Mrs. L. Lilly, Miss Olga Harms and Diven Cochran.

At the grave in Gonzales cemetery the remains were consigned to the earth with a ritualistic ceremony of the ODD Fellows.

The pallbearers were John Hargens, George Steigelmann, John C. Lazier, Judge Harry Brockmann, L. Lorentzen and H. J. Hansen.

Deceased was a native of Denmark, aged 65 years, 9 months and 7 days. Coming to California in his early youth, he resided at Gonzales until his death. His occupation was farming, which he did on a large scale. In early days he was a partner of Peter Ericksen. Later he farmed alone, but for the past several years he was in partnership with George Hook, farming the Callaghan ranch south of town.

Mr. Asmussen leaves to mourn his demise three sons and a daughter, Jasper, Harvey, Leslie and Miss Anne Asmussen. His wife preceded him to the grave, passing away last August 24th.

Deceased was one of the first to join the local order of the Odd Fellows."

The Gonzales Tribune, Thursday, August 13, 1925:

"Card of Thanks

We take this means of expressing our deep appreciation and sincere thanks to the many kind friends and neighbors and members of the Gabilan and Palisade Rebekah Lodge for the beautiful floral offerings, words of sympathy and acts of kindness shown us in our bereavement, the loss of a devoted father.
