Donald Ray "Dude" Baker, 68, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Monrovia.
He was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Indianapolis. His father was Arthur "Bud" Baker. His mother is May G. (Willis) Baker of Bargersville. He married Norma Warrenburg-Wert Baker on Dec. 24, 1964. She survives. Others survivors include two daughters, Marty Dodson of Martinsville and Lydia Chandler of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wert.
He was a lifetime truck driver. He was also employed for seven years by the Corner Store bait shop in Martinsville, retiring in 1994.
He attended Center Grove High School.
He was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church.
He loved to fish and hunt.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
The Rev. Stan Icenogle will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Bargersville Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel. Burial will be at Bluff Creek Cemetery.
