Funeral services were held in Eagleville Monday afternoon for J.W. Adams who passed away in Napa Friday. Adams was a former resident of Modoc county. He was born in Ft. Bidwell 68 years ago and resided in this county until about 1912.
At the time of his death he was maintenance superintendent for the state highway department, a position he had held for approximately 30 years in Napa and San Jose.
Adams graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1902 with a degree of bachelor of law.
Prior to leaving this city Adams practiced law here for several years. He was widely known throughout this county and few years passed that he did not visit Alturas and Surprise Valley on his annual deer hunting and fishing trips.
Besides his wife, Mollie Adams, he leaves three sisters: Mrs. Grace Street, Mrs. Sadie Cambron and Mrs. Jennie Cambron, all of Eagleville. He also has several other relatives in this county.
