OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Feb 21 1936 "Mrs. Ahlstrom, 21, Dies Tuesday: Married Only Year; Attended Stambo High School; Arrange Funeral"
Mrs. Anne [Anna] Ahlstrom, 21, Stambaugh township, died at the General hospital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after a short illness. Her death was attributed to peritonitis.
Funeral arrangements have not been set pending the arrival of a brother Gilbert Christensen from Grass Valley, Cal.
Surviving Mrs. Ahlstrom are her husband of one year, William Ahlstrom, and a three month old son, Peter; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Christensen; one sister, Mrs. Clinton Bardick, Muskegon Heights; and three brothers, Carl and Alvin Christensen, Stambaugh township, and Gilbert, Grass Valley, Cal.
Carl Gulbrandsen, Chicago, a friend of the young married couple, arrived in Stambaugh yesterday.
Mrs. Ahlstrom was a member of the Iron River Presbyterian church and was graduated from the Stambaugh high school in May 1933. She married William Ahlstrom in Chicago, March, 1935.
The body is at the Stambaugh Funeral home.

INFORMATION FROM RELATIVE granddaughter Yvette Ahlstrom of Wyoming ([email protected]) says Anna died from a ruptured appendix when her son (Yvette's father) was only 2 months old. She married William Ahlstrom in Chicago in March 1935, and must have gotten pregnant pretty much immediately. Anna was having health problems (unsure whether from the pregnancy or something else), so she returned to Iron River to stay with her parents. (Bill had to remain in Chicago to work.) Their only son Peter William Ahlstrom was born in Iron River on December 6 1935. Anna died a couple of months later, and her parents Olaf & Marie Christensen raised Peter. Anna's husband Bill stayed on in Chicago, but visited with his son periodically. He never remarried after Anna died. Bill died in Chicago on October 8 1973. His family had him buried in Idaho (though his son Peter feels very strongly that he would have wanted to be buried with Anna).
