Known as Ma Jones to the family and many friends, she married James Hiley Jones in Mercer Co, WV (then Giles Co, VA) on Nov 1867. She was a kind hearted woman and had 13 children, Julie and Alice in Mercer Co, WV, Josephine, Will and Sarah in Meigs Co, OH ~ then Ed and Alonzo in Jackson Co, WV. The rest of the children, John, Lillie, Emmett and Harriet were born at the head of 18 Mile Creek in Putnam Co, WV, Ten of the children survived to adulthood and eventually blessed her and Grandpa Hiley with 81 grandchildren. She used crutches much of her life, occasionally smoked a corn cob pipe and had a great love for her family which was returned ten-fold.
