ALLMAN ERNEST DANIEL Born February 22, 1912, entered into rest April 5, 2003. Ernest a resident of Oakland was born to Rev. Daniel Edward and Minnie Lee Allman in Sulligent, Alabama. He was the fifth born of thirteen children. He is survived by his beloved wife Zelma, three children, Katherine and Daniel Allman, Constance Jones, son-in-law, Rev. Irvin Jones, two beautiful grandchildren, Christopher and Erica and two adorable great-grandsons, Bryce and Dominic. His parents, six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters, Grace Cook, Lucille Truelove, Wilma Carter, and brother Eugene Allman. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ernest received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama A&M, and was also a graduate of Patten University (Patten College). He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and upon an honorable discharge, worked as a machinist at the Naval Supply Center Oakland where he retired after thirty years of service. He also owned Allman's Tax Service for many years. Brother Allman, as he was affectionately known, was an active member of Christian Cathedral Church, Oakland California and faithfully served his church as an usher, and volunteer. He also served on the Board of Trustees for several years. Memorial contributions may be made to Patten University Scholarship Fund, 2433 Collidge Ave., Oakland, CA 94601, or Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104. Friends are invited to the viewing scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2003, 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. The Quiet Hour will be held Thursday, April 10th from 6:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. The service will be held Friday, April 11, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, CA. Arrangements entrusted to FOUCHE'S HUDSON FUNERAL HOME (510) 654-8558.
