Joseph "Joe" Blanc, an 82-year resident of Tehama County, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. He was 84.
Joe was born June 8, 1924, in Gypsum, Colo. He was a line truck driver for 42 years for Pacific Gas and Electric.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He and some of his friends have met for coffee every day since 1964.
Joe is survived by Shirley, his wife of 58 years; daughters Patti (Joel) Pluim of Sonora and Becky (Brian) Tucker of Red Bluff; grandchildren Holly (Brent) Marquardt, Joe (Holly) Pluim and Jim Pluim, all of Sonora, Julie Pluim of Blenheim, N.Z., Travis (Angela) Tucker of Red Bluff and Van Tucker (Cortney) of Chico; great-grandchildren Taylynn and Ashlinn Tucker of Red Bluff and Waylon Marquardt of Sonora; sister Lydia (Bob) Bennett of Vina; nieces Jenice (Jack) Hester of Mesa, Ariz., Kathleen (Mike) Gabriel of Chico and Bobby Bennett of Squaw Valley.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Chapel of the Flowers, with Pastor Dan Woolery officiating, and John Hanson reciting the eulogy.
