Emerson Lee (Ed) Adkins, 92, of Mallory went home to be with the Lord and his loving wife of 62 years, Carrie "Tiny" Hunt Adkins on Thursday, November 22, 2007, from Logan Regional Medical Center. He was born April 22, 1915, at Hurricane Creek, KY, a son of the late John G. and Katherine Allen Adkins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Elster, Cecil, Curtis, and Fred Adkins; and two sisters, Edna Allen and Opal Adkins. Emerson was a disabled coal miner of 38 years formerly employed at Proctor #1 for Island Creek Coal Company. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Clarence Adkins of Medina, OH; two daughters, Carolyn Adkins of Mallory and Magdalene (James) Boothe of Cinnamon Lake, OH; three grandchildren, Sherri (Vernon) Shepherd of Lakewood, OH, Jim (Angie) Boothe of Cleveland, OH, and Dana Toler of Mallory; six great-grandsons, Matthew McNeely and Brandon Shepherd, both of Lakewood, OH, Dennis Toler and Corey Toler, both of Mallory, and Jimmy Boothe and Michael Boothe, both of Cleveland, OH; three brothers, John Adkins, Jr., Eugene Adkins, and Bill Adkins, all of MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Garland Cook, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
