Amos R. "Pig" Bailey, 80, of Mohawk WV, passed away Sunday February, 17, 2013, at the Pikeville Area Medical Center following a long illness.
Pig was born March 4, 1932, in Mohawk WV; a son of the late Elliott and Martha Blankenship Bailey. Pig was a coal truck driver and a timber contractor. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents Pig was preceded in death by his wife Opal Hunt Bailey; three grandsons, Glen Cline, Josh, and Brandon Bailey; three sisters, Birchie Hatfield, Maxie Bailey and Lula Bailey; two brothers, Craig and General Bailey.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Vaught and husband Charlie of Princeton WV and Darlene Bevins and husband Leroy of Mohawk WV; seven sons Thomas Bailey and wife Norm of Mohawk WV, David Bailey of Mohawk , Dale Bailey and wife Donna of Oceana, WV , Darrell Bailey and wife Peggy of Mohawk, Timmy Bailey and wife Marlene of Panther, WV, Terry Bailey of Mohawk, and Johnny Bailey and wife Violet of Bolt, WV; two brothers Theodore Bailey and wife Doris of Princeton, WV, and Truman Bailey of Mohawk; two sisters Phyllis Bailey of Princeton and Shelvie Lockhart of Mohawk; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; one special grandchild Little Opal Bailey of Mohawk; very special caretaker, son-in-law Leroy Bevins.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 21, at 1 o clock, with Reverend Willie Coleman, Reverend Michael Casey, and Reverend Hassell Rife and Reverend Larry Rife officiating at the Panther Missionary Baptist Church, Panther WV.
Burial will follow at the Bailey Cemetery near Mohawk WV. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Bailey, John Boy Bailey, Jason Bailey, Justin Bailey, Chad Bevins, Leonard Smith and Leroy Bevins.
Friends may visit with the family at the Panther Missionary Baptist Church, Tuesday evening February 19, 2013, after 6 P.M., all day Wednesday, February 20, 2013, where an evening service will be conducted both evenings at 7 P.M.
Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger is assisting the Bailey family.
