Matthew Alan Alfred, 45, of Parkersburg, passed away April 6, 2014, as a result of an ATV accident.

He was born in Parkersburg, Aug. 26, 1968, the first born son of Robert A. Alfred and Rebecca E. McMurray.

His memory will be forever in the hearts and minds of his extended family and many friends as he was much loved by many and was a dedicated friend to countless people. As a child, he attended Seventh St. United Methodist Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters camping and just hanging out. He was a fan of NASCAR and was owner of Pit Lane Auto Service Center in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Bernstein Alfred; daughters, Stephanie Dawn Brooks (Tyler), Ashley Nicole Alfred (Cedar), Rebecca Jane Hughart (Jerod) and Jamie Michelle Alfred; one grandson, Damien James Alan Brooks; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Rice Smith; his mother, Rebecca E. McMurray (Bill); his father, Robert A. Alfred (Candy); his sisters, Joy Elizabeth Elder (Gary) and Mary Kathleen Trefz (Todd); his brother, Timothy Andrew Alfred (Ashley); his nieces and nephews, Amanda, Zakary, Valerie, Izabella, Chase, Kearsten and Kaitlynn; and his step-brothers and sisters, Vicki Adams (David), Donna McIntyre (Rodney), Randy McMurray, Michael McMurray (Jackie), Robert Cress and Chris Cress (Shannon), and their children. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, A. Melvin Rice; his paternal grandfather, Herman A. Alfred; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Harris.

Funeral services wil be 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Pastor Dan Stevens and Pastor Bob Alfred officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today.
