Virginia M. Carey, 91, of Prichard, WV died May 18, 2011 at her home. She was born March 13, 1920 at Ravenna, KY a daughter of John O. and Matilda Alley Miller.
She was secretary at Buffalo High School in Wayne County for several years; cost analyst for the Engineering Division of Raytheon Company and retired in 1974 from Island Creek Coal Company. Virginia was co-author of a genealogy: Alley Highlights and author of Carey Highlights. She also kept records for Champion Farms in Gallipolis, Ohio at the time her husband was associated with the farm. She was a member of Kenova Church of Christ, Westmoreland Chapter NSDAR and several Genealogical Societies.
She was preceded in death by
her husband of 63 years, Charles M. Carey in 2001;
a son, Dudley M. Carey in 1993;
a sister, Argie M. Moore in 1997;
three sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Brown, Madaline Harper and Maxine Mattill;
a brother-in-law, Max Carey
a niece Erma Emerson.
a son, Michael D. (Katie) Carey of Huntington
a daughter-in-law, Susanne W. Carey of Humble, TX;
one granddaughter, Tara Carey (Tim) Hackman of Graham, NC; four grandsons, Tim (Pam) Carey of Spring, TX, Colten Carey of Houston, TX, Justin (Denise) Carey of Wellington, CO and Shayne (Hannah) Carey of Ledbetter, KY;
six great grandchildren, Chelsea and Chloe Carey of Spring, TX, Kayhla and Justin Carey of Wellington, CO, Timothy Hackman of Graham, NC and Brooke Hayden Carey of Ledbetter, KY; nieces, Cecilia Webb, Sara Hacala and Mary Lee Rinaldi.
Virginia wanted to remember three very special friends, Donna Payne and Tony and Connie Perry.
Funeral service at the Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV. with Joe Alley officiating. Burial in the Alley-Miller Cemetery.
