Halaevalu Fonongava'inga Afu 5/16/56 ~ 12/11/02 Halaevalu Fonongava'inga Afu, 46, of Orem, Utah passed away December 11, 2002 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City after a long illness. She was born May 26, 1956 in Pangai, Tonga, a daughter of Joe Mataele and Alisi Brown. She married Vaitai Afu on December12, 1985 in Hawthorne, California. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She was an outstanding and gorgeous hula dancer and we would not be surprised if she is not dancing and singing with a big smile on her face, on her way to paradise! Halaevalu is survived by her husband, Vaitai, and their children: Minnie Mataele, Valingi Afu, Christy Afu, and Etetia Endowment Afu. She is also survived by her father, Joe Tuilatai, and one granddaughter, Emma Daisy Fawn Latu. She was preceded in death by her mother. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the LDS Stake Center located at 5015 South 4620 West, Kearns, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to the services on Monday.
