Funeral services for Michael G. Abraham, Sr., 70, of 16 Prospect Circle, Massena, were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. George H. Easter officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena.
The Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Abraham died Monday (February 25,1985) at the Massena Memorial Hospital where he was taken earlier in the day.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; two sons, John D., Massena, Michael G. Jr., Baltimore, MD; a sister, Mrs. Anna Kawood, New Haven, Conn.; a brother, Joseph Daniel, Tampa, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was born February 10, 1915 in Winooski, VT, son of Michael G. and Susan Abraham. He graduated from Winooski High School and was the captain of the school's basketball and baseball teams. He also attended Burlington Business College for three years.
He married Jeanette M. Deeb on Sept. 10, 1939 in St. John's Episcopal Church in Ithaca. He owned and was the proprietor of the Woodlawn Public Market on Woodlawn Avenue in Massena for 48 years. He came to Massena from Vermont in 1937.
He was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM 513 and was an avid sports fan and loved people.
He was affiliated with St. John's Episcopal Church in Massena.
