Tyler Scott Baxter, a heroic son of our Heavenly Father, passed away December 8th, 2004 due to injuries sustained in a pedestrian/automobile accident.
Tyler is the son of MacRay and Sheila Memmott Baxter. He was born August 1st, 1985 in Bountiful, Utah.
Accomplishment in this earthly life is certainly not tied to length of time here. In a mere 19 years, Tyler touched the lives of countless individuals for good. He consistently sustained and honored his parents. Throughout his teenage years, Tyler could always be found helping a widow move in his ward, shingling a neighbor's roof, or cleaning up a littered road during a community service project. His many friends cross all ages, young to old. He was cheerful, quiet, sensitive, and yet his mature personal discipline allowed him to excel in so many meaningful areas. This scripture typifies his brief sojourn on this earth.
Isa. 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Seldom was he ever weary. His pace even increased over the last few years. He served valiantly as 1st Assistant in the Priests Quorum. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Seminary. He was president of the FFA, Future Farmers of America and represented his club at a national competition held in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated with honors from Davis High School with the class of 2004. He received the Melchizedek Priesthood shortly after his graduation from high school.
Elder Baxter achieved one of his life long goals when, two months ago, he received his mission call to the Mexico Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission. He was to enter the mission home on January 12, 2005.
Tyler is survived by his parents, MacRay and Sheila, his brothers, Shawn (Danielle, nephew Skyler), Justin (Chasaleena), Trent, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11th, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the LDS Kaysville Stake Center, 270 West Burton Lane, Kaysville. A viewing will be held Friday evening, 6:30 to 8:30 at the LDS Flint Church located on 2nd North and Flint Street in Kaysville. Another viewing will be held prior to the funeral service, Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Kaysville Stake Center. Interment will be at the Scipio, Utah, cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
It is hard to follow those who precede us "on the wings of eagles." But, if we can learn to "wait upon the Lord" perhaps we, at some future time, will join you Tyler.
