Douglas Jay Ackroyd, 67, passed away on February 5, 2013, in Provo, Utah. He was born on March 31, 1945, in Olds, Alberta, Canada, and was the son of Walter James Ackroyd and Ina Florence Jones Ackroyd.
Doug was raised in Tacoma, Washington. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. He served in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Italy. He graduated from Brigham Young University and was recently retired from the Utah Paratransit. He was married to his sweetheart Orimi Sipe on January 2, 1978; they were later sealed in the Provo UtahTemple. Doug was a kind, patient, and gentle soul and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center Cardiac ICU.
He is survived by his wife, Orimi; children: Rory (Kim), Sean, Kimbra (Kevin), Jonathan (Tina), Alece, and Seth; grandchildren: Josh, Jaden, Marley, Grace, Hendrix, and Josslyn; and sister, Colleen.
