Norma was my 10th Cousin through her Mother, Florence Smith Anderson.
Norma Anderson, age 76, died of complications from Diabetes on Friday, December 28th 2007 at the Silverado Assisted Living Center at Aspen Park in East Millcreek, Utah. Norma was born March 28, 1931 at the family home in Holladay, Utah to David LeRoy Anderson and Florence Smith. She attended Jackson Elementary School in Salt Lake City. The family moved to Richland, Washington in 1944 where she attended Lewis and Clark Elementary and Columbia High School graduating in 1951. After high school she worked as a mail clerk for General Electric at the Hanford facility in Richland, WA.

The family moved back to Salt Lake City in 1954. Norma was employed by a number of families from 1957-1973 tending children: Wynn (3), Livingston (4), Larsen (3), Naylor (4), Denning (7), Miller (3). Some were for short periods or one day a week, others were daily for several years. Worked a short while for Cummings Candy. Started working for Deseret Industries in 1986 and retired in 1996. She worked as a nursery seven leader for eight LDS wards from 1955-85. A lot of time went into preparing activities and lessons. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully from 1955-71 as Young Women's secretary receiving her seven year leader award and 14 individual awards. During this same time she also served as librarian for the ward Primary, Relief Society, and MIA. She enjoyed watching basketball, playing board games, and doing word puzzles.

She also crocheted and knitted using these skills for many years to make gifts for family and friends. She was an example of persevering when her health should have dictated otherwise. She suffered a Heart Attack in 1999 and had several by-passes, in 2003 she had Breast Cancer, and had Diabetes for many years with its attendant complications. She deserves a good rest. She can now be with the mother she hasn't seen in 56 years, and father for 37. Preceded in death by parents.

She was survived by her stepmother, Dorothy Blackham Anderson, sister, Mary Judith (Judy) Donaldson, brother-in-law Ken Donaldson, a nephew Weston Donaldson, and many cousins.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, January 3th 2008 at the Winder 9th Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1495 East 4705 South in East Millcreek at 12:00 Noon with a Viewing at 11:00 AM prior to the Services. A Viewing was held on Wednesday at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary located at 4670 Highland Drive from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Norma was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Holladay Memorial Park in Holladay, Utah beside her Parents.
