CENTERVILLE - Golden Leland Allen, 74, of 120 S. 200 East, died Monday, April 27, 1997, at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful of a heart attack.
He was born July 22, 1912, in Portage, a son of Joseph D. and Elizabeth Naylor Allen.
He married Helen Hofler.
He was Utah State Treasurer, Centerville City mayor, Sergeant at Arms in the Utah House of Representatives, and served as an accountant for CIT Financial Services.
He was a ship's captain in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a principal of Kanab High School.
He filled many positions in the LDS Church including service in the Bishopric.
Surviving are his wife of Centerville, and the following children, Mrs. Gordon (Joy) Purrington, Albany, N.Y.; Gay Farnworth, and Mrs. Scott (Judy) Nixon, both of Centerville; Ann Fadel, Bountiful; and Bruce L. Allen, Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Joseph C. Allen; Salt Lake City; Mrs. Newell (Hazel) Udy, Centerville; Leori K. Allen, Roy; Ralph L. Allen and Mrs. Ray (Edna) Tippets,
both of Ogden; Ellis L. Allen, Portage; and Mrs. Eugene (Faye) Bingham, Clinton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Centerville LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 270 N. 300 East.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel, 295 N. Main, and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Centerville City Cemetery.
