Funeral for Edith H Childs, 93, a former Davenport resident, is scheduled today (Thursday) at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport . Pastor Duane Anderson is the officiant. Concluding service and vault interment will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery in Reardan. Mrs Childs died July 6 in Spokane . She was born on Feb 15, 1914 in Japan . Her family moved to Hawaii where she attended school. She met and married Leonard Childs of Davenport in Honolulu in 1934. They moved in 1935 to the farm east of Davenport where they lived and farmed until they retired in 1977. Two years after his death in 1989, she moved to a new home in The Academy in Spokane . She belonged to St Luke's Lutheran Church and the Mondovi Grange and was active in the Zion Lutheran Women's Association. A brother and sister also preceded her in death. She leaves a son, Ron Childs (and Ratree) of Nine Mile Falls; three daughters, Kay Sewell of Kennesaw, GA, Sandra Higgins and Linda Dilley-Healam, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a brother, Henry Mizumoto of Pearl City, Hawaii; and numerous nieces and nephews.
